Sleep physiologists

Nicola and Janet are repsonsible for setting up and reporting sleep studies. She also manages the excercise tests and formal lung function testing for children at Llandough

The respiratory specialist nurses manage the home and hospital-based sleep service with Nicola, our sleep physiologist. They have great expertise in theĀ care of technology-dependant children including those on home ventilation and on home oxygen. Janet James also runs a nurse-led asthma clinic and leads on in-pateint asthma training.

The CF nurses maintain vital links between hospital and home for children with cystic fibrosis and have an in-depth knowledge of both the medical and social aspects of our patients. Kath and Jodee are highly specialised senior physiotherapists with specialist knowledge in paediatric respiratory physiotherapy. They play a critical role in the management of children with chronic lung disease. More information about physiotherapy can be found here.
Dietician
Caroline Powell
Caroline is a senior dietican with specialist experience in the management of children with cystic fibrosis. She does dietry assessments on all chidlren with CF and provides specialist advice on diet, nutritional supplements and pancreatic enzyme regimens. Lisa, Sian and Clare are consultant secretaries; . Together they provide secretarial and database support for the respiratory and CF services at the Children’s Hospital for Wales and have a wealth of knowledge about our long term patients. In addition they administer the outreach services that we provide across South Wales.
